You gotta love California. The sun, the surf, the bikinis, palm trees swaying in the wind, and lawsuits. Lots and lots of lawsuits. Yep, California is probably the capital of funky lawsuits. You've got former McDonald's employees suing former employers, a mother suing a celebrity because their daughter did something stupid, husband's and wives at each others throats, and, today, we have a coach filing a $500,000 lawsuit against a former (14 yr old) player. Seems player hit a winning run and while he was in celebration mode, whilst running down the third base line, he threw his batting helmet on the ground, it bounced a few times and eventually wound up rupturing his coach's Achilles tendon.
Wait, what?! The kid didn't throw the helmet at the coach but apparently it had enough momentum to bounce along the ground and up against the Coach's leg to injure him to the tune of $500,000?!?!? Something is not right here - but good thing Coach filed his lawsuit in the land of a million lawsuits (aka California) because anywhere else, this case would have been tossed out post haste.
I'd like to say this is the exception - but, actually, it's the norm in California. Maybe you're itching to file a personal injury lawsuit and need to know what you need to do to get things moving. Might I suggest you take a look at:
